Ingenious Makers frequently creates independent and comprehensive product reviews, focusing on a wide array of Maker-centric products, including 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engraving tools, as well as manual tools and accessories.
Reviews published here go beyond mere summaries of product specifications; each reviewed product undergoes thorough testing. Our experiences and results from these tests are shared in either video or written format.
While we welcome all products for review, please keep in mind that a few guidelines apply to any product review conducted by Ingenious Makers:
Table of Contents
Review neutrality
Any results and opinions expressed in a review video or post are a truthful reflection of our experiences with the product. Under no circumstances will we accept payment or any other form of compensation to influence our stated opinion.
Reviews conducted by Ingenious Makers do not require payment, enabling us to uphold our journalistic integrity.
However, you may choose to pursue sponsorship independently of a review. More details on sponsorships below!
Manufacturer’s influence
The resulting review-video (or its script) will not be shared prior to its public release.
“Review guides” containing pre-approved talking points are welcome for completeness, but they will not be strictly followed.
Product requirements
Pre-release products
Reviews of pre-release products offer limited value to end users. Given the extra effort needed to make an unfinished product function correctly, along with the potential for further changes before the product’s final release, Ingenious Makers will not accept any pre-release hardware for review unless it is identical to the version that will ultimately be shipped to customers.
The same conditions apply to crowdfunded products. Due to a history of significant discrepancies between the promises made during campaigns and the final release, as well as instances of fraud associated with crowdfunding, Ingenious Makers will also refrain from reviewing crowdfunded products that have not been fully delivered to customers.
Product safety
Products with significant safety issues that pose a danger to users or during the review process will not be accepted. If it is discovered that a product has a critical safety issue that could cause property damage or harm users, the product will be decommissioned, and the review process will be halted. Any findings related to the issue may still be published.
Resolving issues
Within reasonable limits, Ingenious Makers will make an effort to resolve any issues that may arise during product testing. It is important to note that any technical difficulties and challenges encountered will be mentioned in the review.
Cherry-picking products or supplying non-standard versions is discouraged. Ingenious Makers has limited capability to identify cherry-picked products, so we rely on product manufacturers and resellers to provide items that are identical to what an end user would receive.
Provided review samples
Ingenious Makers does accept review samples from manufacturers or resellers, so long as the conditions were agreed on beforehand.
Loaned / provided products
If you require a provided product to be returned after review, please state so before sending a product. Products sent without communicating loan terms or return conditions prior to shipping will be considered gifts and will not be returned.
Unsolicited products
Products that are sent without prior agreement are considered a gift, will not be returned and might not be considered for review. Ingenious Makers will choose an appropriate use for any unannounced deliveries.
Imports
If you are shipping from a non-EU country, please ensure that you comply with the relevant import declaration rules. Products should be sent either as Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) if their value exceeds €150 or through the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) if their value is below €150. Shipments that are not properly declared will be refused and may be returned or destroyed by customs.
Always declare the actual value of the products you ship. Dutch customs will not accept invoices for samples with a zero value.
Products that do not meet the standards required to bear the “CE” mark may be destroyed upon import.
Legal
Unless explicitly agreed upon, Ingenious Makers cannot guarantee a specific release date for a product review. Unexpected issues with a product may further delay the review as they are addressed.
If a product is provided with the stipulation that a video review will be published about it, this is legally considered an exchange of goods, and therefore, it constitutes a sponsored video and advertisement for the product. Consequently, the review must be disclosed as such. Ingenious Makers does not generally guarantee that a review will be released after a product has been provided.
Ingenious Makers is not obligated to accept any product for review and reserves the right to decline review opportunities for any reason.

Sponsorship guidelines
Sponsorship opportunities on the YouTube channels and blogs produced by Ingenious Makers vary from product integrations to embedded product or service sponsor spots within video content.
Sponsorships play a crucial role in online content and marketing. However, certain legal and ethical boundaries must be observed:
- Ingenious Makers reserves the right to refuse sponsorship from any party for any reason.
- Sponsorships are generally accepted only if Ingenious Makers believes the product or service is legitimate and offers genuine value to customers.
- Acceptance of a sponsorship does not imply unlimited endorsement by Ingenious Makers.
- YouTube has specific limits regarding product sponsorships integrated into video content. Additionally, legal limitations and requirements to disclose sponsored content apply (relevant Dutch law and, to some extent, US law will be considered).
- Payments for sponsorships will not influence the outcome or timing of a review.
- That said, Ingenious Makers is likely to decline sponsorships for products that receive poor review outcomes.
- Brand and product integrations may be removed under extreme circumstances.
